WINDSPRITE ELUSIVE aka SEBASTIAN 1998 - 2006

Run free Sebastian, breathe clear and easy , may the sun shine on your back and warm the grass beneath your feet . May you always have hands to pet you and playmates to romp with , ice cream on demand, bubble wrap to pop, and a soft bed to lay in. We will miss your funny ways and your morning RoooRooo's . You will always be loved .

A comic canine catastrophe, Sebastian the Long Haired Whippet is a true character; thunderphobic, fussy, nervous, often socially inapproprate, afflicted with seasonal allergies, obsessed with popping bubble wrap and hoarding candy in little piles in his bed any time he can find it. He thinks he is big man on campus here, but his diminutive 20 inch size and his neutered state falls short physically of the job. I got Sebastian from Walter Wheeler's Windsprite Kennels, and even when Sebastian was a young dog at Windsprite, Walter described him as "bizarre".

Sebastian loves his creature comforts, lolling around in the sun in
a nice comfy spot, and the occasional treat of ice cream (his favorite).
He watches TV with us sometimes as well, especially anything with dogs,
and has been known to check behind the TV occasionally for the missing
canines when the dogs leave the screen. Sebastian also likes to watch
mixing bowls mix on cooking shows. We don't know why.

Sebastian loves having canine visitors to the house, and usually can
be seen running his little heart out with the pack. Here he is with
Sheba, ganging up on Karen Fink's Silken Windhound Addy (all you can
see is her legs), and with Cinnibar the orange brindle Silken Windhound
lending support in the background.

There are a lot of people who strongly feel that Long Haired Whippets
don't exist.
Now, you can't breed two short haired AKC Whippets and ever get anything with a really long coat, but *a* breed called the Long Haired Whippet does exist . Sometimes when I want to tease him, I tell Sebastian that I have it on good authority from many experts that he doesn't exist. He greets the news with a wag of his tail and a bright happy smile.
